Book Review: Apeshit by Carlton Mellick III

Apeshit by Carlton Mellick III is #%^*ing awesome! It doesn’t bother trying to masquerade as high art, instead opting for gross-out moments and over-the-top action. The novel follows the standard plot of a B-horror movie like Evil Dead: a group of teenagers goes camping in the woods, expecting a trip full of debauchery, only to experience murder and mayhem.

As a bizarro horror novel,Apeshit is incredibly offensive, with characters embracing multiple taboos—but I enjoyed every page. Mellick’s sick sense of humor isn’t for those with delicate sensibilities, but if you’re looking for an over-the-top B-horror novel with scenes that will make you gag, Apeshit is the perfect book.
